To date, the world community is concerned about the problem of balance between the development of states, their economic growth and the environmental crisis faced by society. The paper highlights the need to improve national legislation, which would fully take into account the interests of social, economic and environmental components. In particular, emphasis is placed on the use of flexible (non-standard) forms of employment, namely telecommuting. A comparison of labor legislation on telecommuting in countries with particularly similar legal systems is made to identify positive experiences, with the aim of developing labor legislation to ensure sustainable development. The study concludes that telecommuting is quite a standard type of employment in the realities of innovative economy and innovative society. The necessity of improving the norms of labor legislation regulating the issue of flexible forms of employment, including remote labor, is summarized.
