Ensuring the well-being of childhood is one of the main priorities not only in Russia, but also in other countries. Special attention is paid to the social protection of orphans and children left without parental care, as the least protected category among citizens and among children who have parents and are raised in "blood" families. To that end, States are taking various measures to ensure the maintenance of such children. Among them, a considerable part is taken by material measures or measures provided in monetary form. In the article a comparative analysis of the legislation of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan in terms of conditions and definition of the scope of pension provision and provision of social benefits is carried out. Identification of specifics, similarities and differences in the legal regulation of monetary maintenance of children left without parental care, mutual exchange of legal experience will allow the countries to improve the legislation on social security.
